THE RESTORATION ACT: UN-BROKEN THINGS 2017
This ongoing collection of works draws on the trade of mending, considering the burgeoning cottage industry of street repairers found in the cities of most developing countries alongside the almost extinct repair shops that once existed in the West. Playing with the tipping point at which repairing is more expensive than replacing the works, it merges traditional mending techniques with botch-job repairs and propositions of alternative functions. These sculptures start from objects received from on-going Amnesties of Broken Things held in collaboration with various organizations and museums in different locations worldwide.
